Tariffs for Schönhagen airport, valid from 1.1.2007

Our customer-orientated tariffs make the Schönhagen flying-experience affordable and there are always a few special offers in store:

  • If you’re only making a short stop-over to refuel, you pay no landing fee, provided your stay does not exceed 30 minutes. If you wish to stay longer, our terminal and airport restaurant, with its delicious Mediterranean dishes, will be more than enough compensation for our minimal landing fee.
  • Vintage aeroplanes, over 50 years old, pay no landing fee.
  • Any pilot undertaking at least three circuits can take advantage of the reduced landing fees for training flights.
  • For every completed year, frequent flyers receive attractive refunds each January; for flying schools and clubs, the refund accumulates and applies to the whole fleet.
  • In the winter period, on each last Saturday of every month, on night-flights up until 23.00 hrs. no PPR fees are charged.
  • from 15.5. until 15.9. on Saturdays and Sundays up until 22.00 there is no PPR charge for landing. However, planned landings should still be registered by 18.30 local time.

Part I - Landing fees

1 Allgemein

1.1 For every aircraft landing at the airport of Schönhagen a landing fee is payable to the airport administration. For commercial air traffic with passenger-processing an additional passenger landing fee is required.
Debtor of these fees as joint debtor is

  1. the person or legal body utilising the aircraft, without being the owner or keeper: that is, rentee or lease-holder
  2. the aircraft keeper
  3. the shipping agent
  4. the air carrier as joint debtor, under whose airline code/flight number each flight is undertaken (Code Sharing)

1.2 For aircraft, helicopters and self-launching motor gliders the landing fee is calculated according to the MTOW (maximum take-off weight) as entered in the registration documents of the aircraft and according to its noise pollution category. For commercial aircraft involving passenger processing, the landing fee will increase according to the number of passengers on board at time of landing (variable part of the landing fee).

1.3 The landing fee must be paid in Euros at latest prior to the following take-off.

The noise category of the aircraft is to be ascertained by presentation of a noise certificate according to NFL II- 56/99, or a comparable foreign noise certificate. This is to be done, at the latest, prior to the next take-off following landing, and in accordance with details given in the appendix.

If the aircraft’s noise category cannot be ascertained then the highest landing fee for that weight category is payable. Retroactive refunds are not possible.

1.4 The landing fee is a fee in terms of § 10, Para. 1 of the Sales Tax Act. Thus the joint debtor is liable for Sales Tax.

1.5 A landing fee is also payable if the aircraft touches the ground, before immediate take off.

1.6 For hover flights by rotary-winged aircraft that extend beyond comparable runway movements of regular aircraft, a landing fee is payable for each six-minute period begun.

1.7 In the case of emergency landings due to technical difficulties no landing fee will be charged. Landings for security reasons or evasion manoeuvres are not emergency landings.

2.3 The variable part of the landing fee (dependent on the number of passengers) is only payable for commercial aircraft fitted with more than four seats. This is:

2,50 Euros per passenger

Children under the age of 2 pay no fee. The definition of passenger also includes employees, but excludes the on-duty crew, and includes employees of other aircraft companies who are travelling on  reduced rate tickets or are travelling free of charge.

2.4 For flights between sunset and sunrise a beaconing charge of 5.00 Euros per landing and take-off is payable. For training flights the beaconing charge is reduced to 3.00 Euros per landing and take-off for long-distance fights. For circuit flights, a beaconing fee is charged once for every circuit made and for every aircraft.

2.5 For take-offs and landings outside publicised opening hours a PPR charge of 20 Euros will be charged for the first 30 minutes and 25 Euros for each further half hour.

2.6 For border clearance a flat rate of 7,00 Euro per aircraft is payable.

2.7 Reduced landing fees

2.6.1 Training landings
Training landings, according to the tariffs, are flights undertaken by trainee pilots as part of their training at a recognised flight school, and which are necessary for the attainment of an air traffic licence or additional permit, according to the Air Traffic Personnel Ordinance (LuftPersV). If a glider with tow-plane is used, then the tow-plane will be liable for the same fee as a training flight.

2.6.2 Training landings
Aircraft pilots who are not normally eligible for reduced rate training landings according to 2.6.1. can still apply. Training landings are defined as at least three combined landings with no more than 10-minute intervals. Practice landings are charged as training landings according to Paragraph 2.1.

2.6.3 Aircraft technology businesses
Test flights by technical businesses based at Schönhagen Airport will be charged the same rate as training flights according to Paragraph 2.1. These have to be registered as test flights.

2.6.4 Permanent leasers
Those keepers of aircraft who have a parking space or hangar contract for a period of at least 12 months qualify for a 10% discount on the fees, according to Paragraph 2.1. Excepted are training and practice landings, which have already received a discount as detailed in Paragraphs 2.6.1, 2.6.2 and 2.6.3.

2.6.5 Re-fuelling
Aircraft landing at Schönhagen in order to refuel are exempted from landing fees if there is no more than 30 minutes between landing and re-starting.

2.6.6 Frequent flyer rebates
frequent flyers qualify for rebates according to the following table:
From the 151th to the 500th landing: 5.0 %
From the 501th to the 1000th landing: 7.5 %
From the 1001th to the 3000th landing: 10.0 %
From the 3001th landing: 12.5 %
For the frequent flyers rebate all landings of aircraft from one owner are counted (normal, training and test landings) irrespective of which aircraft undertakes the landings. The rebate is only payable to the owner directly, and not via a third party.

2.6.7 Historical aircraft
Aircraft older than 50 years are exempt from landing fees.

2.6.8. Employees of the airport company are exempt from fees for personal flights made in the process of maintaining their pilot’s licence.

2.6.9. Guests or those working on contract for the airport company can, with permission of the airport management or by someone acting on its behalf, have the landing fees waived.

2.6.10 In accordance with Paragraph 2.4, the PPR fee can be temporarily lifted with the permission of the airport company or by someone acting on its behalf, for special events taking place at the airport.

Part II - Parking fees

1. Parking in the open

1.1 Those responsible for the parking of aircraft, in accordance with Part I, Paragraph 1.1, are obliged to pay the airport company according to the valid table of fees.
The parking fee is a fee, in accordance with Article 10, Paragraph 1 of the Sales Tax Act. Those responsible for payment of the fee are also responsible for paying the Sales Tax.

1.2 For aircraft, rotary-winged planes and self-launching motor gliders, the parking fees are charged according to the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) as given in the registration certificate of the aircraft.
  1. The parking fee is valid for every 24-hour period that is begun.
  2. The parking fee will be calculated from a parking period beyond six hours.
